I am on a holiday trip for son’s fall break at school, but since startup entrepreneurs are never really on holiday, I am also busy preparing for upcoming events and following up on the India contacts made last week. Spiel 2017 is the premier board game industry event, where we hope primarily to meet distributors and publishers for new language markets, as well as media and other possible partners from the game industry side. We have already booked a few meetings, but welcome more to our booth located at 6 G119.
Before the event, we need to deal with various practical issues. For example, the event organizers’ requirement for game packaging to include appropriate warnings, which we never thought we’d need for a card game with no parts that any infant could swallow and which is appropriate for all audiences from content point of view. Then there is the card payment issue, as we’d need to have a bank account in Germany to collect money with iZettle, so we plan to instead support online and cash payments only at the event. Thirdly, we need to get some merchandise to our stand. We are already running out of English language stock in our office, so we needed to create a fulfillment order to Amazon UK, which is a nice test of the service, to see how well it works and what are the exact fees associated with it.
By now we are pretty much set for Essen. If you plan to come as well, check out our offer to pay online and collect the game at our booth, avoiding shipping costs. We’ll verify the online purchase at the booth. You can of course also pay cash at the booth.
My other running concern is driving up reviews on Amazon UK and Amazon US, so that the product’s discoverability would improve ahead if the all-important holiday sales season. If you are willing to write a review, please contact me.
Next week some live first impressions direct from Essen. Until next time!
